Genre

Genre is a subset of fandom that a particular subject matter may seem to belong to. For example, in the broadest sense of Science Fiction there might be subsets of Hard Science Fiction, Military Science Fiction, Space Opera, Speculative Fiction, Fantasy, Horror, Magical Realism, Time Travel, and Historical Fantasy stories. In addition, the presentation of the story comes into play, so Comics, Anime, Animation, and Media (episodic or serial television and theatrical releases) have their own subsets.
